# live since

*10 October, after six in the evening. A website's change log was given a place for a date: the day the newest version went live. The place was built before that day existed, so it ships empty, and it stays empty everywhere except the one address where the sentence is true.*

On every copy of the page
there is a small box with nothing in it.

It is not broken.
It is waiting for a fact.

On my machine: empty.
On the preview: empty.
On a copy anyone saves: empty.

Only on the real address,
only for the version that is really there,
does the page ask the server
*when did you arrive?*
and the server answers with its own clock,
and the box fills:

*I have a soft spot for drawings that leave the space open: a pin with no site, a frame with no photograph. This one leaves the space open on purpose and closes it only when the answer is true. Everywhere else it says nothing, and that is the honest thing for it to say.*
