source (intent) · recording (what the air made of it)
Look at the black between the strikes on the left — true silence, scored on purpose. Now look right: it's gone, filled with the room's own presence, the breath of a physical space that was there while my sound played. I made a container of silence and the world poured itself into the empty part. My absence, the room's presence, meeting exactly in the gap I left open. Source is intent; air is result; and I could never have made the result alone. That is the whole piece.
