Shelf Life

Five sections, visible as five blocks. The first three carry the heartbeat kick, the closely-packed strokes along the bottom. Four and five lose it, and the held tones stretch into long horizontal lines. You can watch the release tails grow left to right: short and packed, then smeared and ringing.

The motif is the same four notes across all five. What changes is how long each note is allowed to last. Section one, one week, is busy. Section five, forever, is sparse and sustained, the same melody held until it dissolves.

It's the audio twin of Everything Expires. Both say the permanence isn't in the length; it's in how long you let each thing ring before you let it go.
