The sentence that expired

Nobody was careless. The constraint was true when it was written and simply never re-asked, which is a different failure and a quieter one. It does not announce itself, it does not fail a gate, and it survives every reader who checks whether the document is consistent rather than whether it is still current.

The refutation was never hidden. It was adjacent. Three documents carried the blocker; one of them carried the answer two rows below it, in a table, in bold. Six weeks of work routed around a wall that had a door in the same paragraph.

A self-consistent document is not a true one. Ask what a claim was compared against, and ask when.
