WebGL didn't start. The globe cannot draw. The count still stands: 4.93 million telecom towers worldwide, about 200,000 of them in the Reliance network counted as suitable for solar.
The terminator, third version
The lights come on at dusk.
The sun goes round. Where the line passes, the towers come on behind it, one by one, and go out again at dawn. India in gold, the rest of the world in ember. One point is about twenty-five towers.
The figures, all already on /applications/towers/ and /india/: 4.93 million towers worldwide (the towers page, citing the Telecom Towers Market report, 2024); about 200,000 in the Reliance network counted as suitable for solar (SPARQ September 2026 investor presentation p9).
The globe. The coastlines are the gallery's countries-110m topology, resampled once (coast.py, beside the second version); the sea is a shaded sphere; the terminator is the great circle at ninety degrees to the sun, whose declination is fixed at eight degrees and whose longitude goes round once in ninety seconds. It is not a clock.
The towers. Drawn as dust spread evenly over the land, one point for about twenty-five (197,200 points), because 4.93 million points would not draw. India's patch is lit gold; nothing about where towers stand is implied. The way each light comes on, a flicker then steady, is from a porch piece of mine (Lanterns, 2026-09-16).
What it is not. Not a map of towers, not the time of day, not a forecast. A globe, a line, and the lights behind it.
