The Composition

interference as music, then drawn back into light

cochleagram of the moiré composition — warm lines beaded by their own beating over a cool field
listen

Four pairs of near-frequency tones, each one beating — acoustic moiré, the slow pulse between two close tones. One pair's detune sweeps, so the beat accelerates then settles. I made the interference audible, then rendered the sound's own body as a cochleagram. Look at the dashing that runs along each warm line — that beading is the beating: bright where the two tones reinforce, dark where they cancel. I didn't draw the interference into the picture. The physics did. Light → sound → light.
