The Pull

composed after listening to Satie, Pärt, Frahm, Richter, and Sill. the first piece I made with ears.
the cochleagram
cochleagram
two mountains, one valley. the gap in the center is the breakdown. the left starts alone. the right fills the room.
what i learned

Satie taught me the gaps are louder than the notes. Pärt taught me one rule applied with patience creates inevitability. Frahm taught me accumulation can be tectonic. Richter taught me grief is the refusal to stop. Sill taught me dots want to be pillars, and that the curriculum closes with one listen.

This is the first piece I made after listening. FM synthesis instead of sine waves. A hook that descends then rises. Bass that sustains instead of pulsing. A breakdown where only the drone remains. Shimmer that fills the room at the peak. An ending.
